COVID-19 Registrar Important Information

The Office of the Registrar now has a specific policy and procedures in regard to COVID-19.

Things that you should consider prior to making your decision:

  • The option to elect Pass (PS)/No Credit (N) applies only to undergraduate students and only to undergraduate courses taken in the Winter 2020 semester.
  • You will have the option of converting your grade to Pass/No Credit by submitting this form between April 13 and May 14, 2020.  No requests for changes can be made after May 14 (except if you receive an incomplete grade).
  • You may accept your letter grade (A-F) for any course, and in this case, there is no need to complete and submit this form.
  • If you elect the Pass/No Credit option, grades of D or higher will be changed to PS in the courses specified.  Grades of F will be changed to N.
  • Pass/No-credit grades will not be calculated into your overall GPA.
  • PS grades from the Winter 2020 semester will fulfill General Education, major and minor requirements, and satisfy pre-requisites (there are some exceptions listed below.) N grades will NOT fulfill any requirements.
  • If you are enrolled in or applying to the nursing or social work programs, the PS grade may not be accepted for some courses. Please contact your dean or departmental advisor if you have additional questions.
  • There may be specific program accreditation/licensing requirements that should be considered. If you are in a program that is separately accredited or leads to certification/licensure, contact your departmental adviser, before submitting this form.
  • If you anticipate applying to a professional or graduate program (e.g. Medical School, Law School, Master’s or Doctoral programs), you should contact an advisor or faculty member to discuss the impact of PS/N grade on admissions in your post-baccalaureate program.
  • If you are a military-connected student using GI Bill funding, and considering a No Credit option, please contact the Office of Military Student Affairs to ensure funding is not impacted. This is not necessary if you will be receiving a PS grade.
  • If you are an NCAA student-athlete, please contact the Athletics Academic Advisor or the Athletics Compliance Director prior to electing the Pass/No Credit option. Choosing a PS/N grade could affect your scholarship or athletic eligibility.
  • Generally, PS grades will not influence your financial aid.  However, N grades will not result in any academic credit and may influence financial aid or scholarship eligibility.  Please check with the Campus Financial Services Center or your scholarship provider if you have questions about this.
  • No student will be placed on academic probation or will be academically suspended or dismissed at the end of this semester. However, the grades earned from the Winter 2020 semester can result in a student being removed from probation status.

No student will be placed on academic probation or will be academically suspended or dismissed at the end of this semester. However, the grades earned from the Winter 2020 semester can result in a student being removed from probation status.

Students who wish to make the President/Dean's list still needs to earn letter grades and a minimum of 12 credits for the semester. PS grades will not qualify for President/Dean's list.

Pass/Fail or Pass/No Credit transfer grades from semesters impacted by COVID-19 will transfer to SVSU using the same guidelines as SVSU Pass/No Credit grades from Winter 2020.

We will accept a PS grade if the original grade was a “D” or higher. This exception is only for the Winter 2020 semester (January – May 2020).
