SVSU Human Trafficking Summit

May 11 & 12, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM at SVSU

The SVSU Social Work & Youth Services is collaborating with the Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force to host a FREE SVSU Human Trafficking Summit on May 11 & 12 from 8:30am-4:30pm. The summit offers 12 Human Trafficking CEUs for social workers, nurses, and occupational therapy professionals. This training typically costs $315 per trainee; SVSU is able to offer the training for free with support from the YouthWISE grant.
Summit Description
Human trafficking is one of the most misunderstood issues we talk about, and those misunderstandings cause real harm. This two-day Train-the-Trainer is designed to dispel myths, replace outdated narratives, and provide accurate, up-to-date, evidence-based information you can confidently share with others. This is not a lecture marathon.
This is:
  • Small-group learning
  • Highly interactive
  • Real-world scenarios
  • Trauma-informed & survivor-centered
  • Engaging, practical, and genuinely interesting
You'll leave this summit with:
  • Clear language to address common myths
  • Confidence to speak to diverse audiences
  • Tools you can actually use
  • A deeper understanding of sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and exploitation—grounded in facts, not fear
