Application Procedure

Applications are currently being accepted for Cohort 13, which will begin classes in Winter 2025. Applications will be reviewed, and interviews scheduled as they are received through April 15, 2024 or until all positions are filled (limited to 12 students). If positions still remain after this date, the application will reopen in Fall 2024. Apply early to secure your spot!

Vitito Fellows are selected from among outstanding undergraduate students pursuing majors in the Scott L. Carmona College of Business at SVSU (or in exceptional cases students that have declared a Business minor). To be eligible, the students must have completed or be scheduled to complete at least 45 credits prior to the Fall 2024 semester, including some core business courses. (Generally, candidates will apply in the Winter of their sophomore year or Fall of their junior year). No prior leadership training is required for this program.

Candidates must commit to three consecutive semesters of course work, co-curricular activities, and global travel experience in order to be admitted. Prior to applying to the program, students should confirm that they meet all requirements for travel outside of the United States. International students should consult with the Office of Advanced Studies & International Student Services. Failing to provide a proof of eligibility to travel internationally may disqualify an applicant from the program.

All candidates must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service/involvement. Applications must be accompanied by an essay explaining the applicant’s personal and professional goals, as well as his or her performance and potential as a leader. In addition, applicants must submit a resume listing three references with contact information. References must include at least one academic and one non-academic source.

Vitito Fellows are interviewed by a Selection Committee chaired by the Dean of the Scott L. Carmona College of Business. This committee will make recommendations to the University President. Final selection of Vitito Fellows will be made by the SVSU Foundation Board, upon recommendation of the University President.

The Program Oversight Committee is responsible for selecting members of the Selection Committee. Members of the Program Oversight Committee may also serve on the Selection Committee.

Vitito Fellows are selected on the basis of academic ability, character, leadership experience or potential for leadership (in a University or non-University setting), and demonstrated concern for and willingness to give back to the community. The following are required for application:

  1. Minimum GPA of 2.8.
  2. An application essay.
  3. A resume listing three references with contact information (at least one academic and one non-academic)
  4. An interview by the Selection Committee

Vitito Fellows will be selected, as mentioned above, prior to the start of the program in Winter 2025.
