Clubs and Organizations for Students Interested in Business

‌The Scott L. Carmona College of Business offers many opportunities for students to get involved and enhance their academics with extra-curricular activities and programs. In addition to Student Organizations and Honor Societies, CCB also offers two Programs of Distinction and International Opportunities.

 

Accounting Society

The Accounting Society at SVSU is a registered student organization that exists to serve both accounting majors (BBA and BPA) and minors. The goal of the Accounting Society is to connect accounting students with their peers and professors, and provide firms a group that they can address collectively.

Alpha Mu Alpha

Alpha Mu Alpha is the national marketing honorary for qualified undergraduate, graduate and doctoral marketing students, and marketing faculty. Under the auspices of the AMA, a selected advisory committee of marketing educators designed the Alpha Mu Alpha recognition program to acknowledge outstanding scholastic achievement on a highly competitive basis.

American Marketing Association

Student members of the American Marketing Association are connected with marketers across all specialities to collaborate, network, gain practical experience and empower your career. The collegiate chapter focuses on professional development, community service and fundraising as well as hosting activities on campus.

APICS - Association for Operations Management

The Association for Operations Management is the premier professional association for supply chain management and the leading provider of research, education and certification programs that elevate supply chain excellence, innovation and resilience.

Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society

Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

DECA Collegiate Chapter

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management around the globe. Organized into two divisions, high school and college, the SVSU chapter falls into the Collegiate Division with over 15,000 members in 275 colleges and universities. DECA is open to all students regardless of program of study.

Delta Sigma Pi

Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

Economics Club

The Economics Club at SVSU is an effort to bring together all those interested in Economics at SVSU. Majors, minors, and others are welcome to join. The club furthers the understanding and enjoyment of economics within the student body.

Finance Club

Finance Club seeks to bring together business students who are studying Finance, Economics, or Accounting. The club brings in professionals as speakers to give insight on what they do and how to prepare for future careers. Annually, the club travels to a national finance conference in New York, giving students a chance to network with companies and executives.

NABA - National Association of Black Accountants

Since 1969, the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) has set the standard of excellence for business professionals. NABA’s members are part of a network that provides opportunities for growth and success in the global business marketplace. They share and promote a professional ethos – “Lifting as we climb!” Members must be pursuing a degree or working in accounting with a 2.5 GPA.

Omicron Delta Epsilon

Omicron Delta Epsilon is one of the world's largest academic honor societies. The objectives of Omicron Delta Epsilon are recognition of scholastic attainment and the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics; the establishment of closer ties between students and faculty in economics within colleges and universities, and among colleges and universities; the publication of its official journal, The American Economist, and sponsoring of panels at professional meetings as well as the Irving Fisher and Frank W. Taussig competitions.
