To apply for Undergraduate (bachelor's) study*:

• Complete the online application. There is a $90 application fee.
• Visit the Self Service Center to upload the following documents: 
  • Copy of passport name/photo page (and any dependent(s))
  • Evidence of Financial Support (original bank statement signed and stamped by the bank) for one academic year, $34,175 USD
  • Unofficial transcripts, translated into English from all institutions attended outside the U.S.
    • official international transcripts must be provided after arrival
    • official U.S. transcripts must be provided prior to admission 
  • Request to have official scores on the English language test sent directly to SVSU** (if scores are not submitted or are below requirements, conditional admission may be offered)
  • Request to have official SAT or ACT scores sent directly to SVSU for additional scholarship consideration. (NOT REQUIRED)

**Alternates to IELTS or TOEFL for undergraduate applicants

The following meet requirements for proof of English language:

• Successful completion of minimum ELS 110 level
• An English course from an accredited U.S. institution equivalent to SVSU English 111 with a grade of C or higher
• Successful completion of 1 full year of academic study in a U.S. High School

*Undergraduate Conditional Admission

Students without an English proficiency score (TOEFL or IELTS) or with a score below the minimum requirement may be admitted to the English Language Program. Upon successful completion of English requirements, those students may continue into an undergraduate program of study.  Graduate students who have successfully completed the ELP can re-apply for admission to the graduate program of their choice, submitting  TOEFL/IELTS scores sufficient to graduate program to which they apply.

*Undergraduate Probationary Admission

Probationary admissions is granted for students who's GPA upon admission is less than the required 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students who are admitted on a probationary status will be required to maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA during their first two full semesters of academic course work (24 credits total).

 *Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate competence in English. Request to have official scores on the English language test sent directly to SVSU. Each graduate degree has a specific English Language Requirements for Admission.

Each graduate program at SVSU does have its own application requirements in addition to the requirements listed here.  All requirements will populate in the Self Service Center after your application is submitted.
