Your resume is the employer's first impression of you, because of that, it should be flawless and professional. View resume tips and build a resume specific to your degree. |
A cover letter addresses the employer with your intentions of application for a position. Your cover letter should be brief, specific, and convey the message you are trying to deliver - that you want an opportunity to interview for the position. |
While a resume can get your "foot in the door," the interview is the most important element in the job search process. Through interviews, you and the employer have a chance to exchange information and participate in a discussion to determine whether you are a good fit for their organization and whether the organization is a good fit for you. |
Starting college as an undecided student may be daunting. You may feel that you’re already behind on your four-year degree progress or you may be worried about fitting in on campus. You also may be unsure of how to explore the majors offered at your school and the career outcomes they lead to. SVSU offers a FREE Strong Interest Inventory® assessment to help students identify their work personality by exploring their interests in six broad areas: realistic, artistic, investigative, social, enterprising, and conventional (often referred to using the acronym RIASEC). |
A Young Professional Network(YPN) is a valuable resource for those who want to build relationships with peers, advance their careers, and make a difference in their industry, community, and local association. A YPN gives young professionals the chance to build their social capital, discover new job opportunities, all while building a better resume. |
