Welcome! As someone wanting to guest at SVSU, you are a valued member of our Cardinal community. We are here to help you accomplish your goals and make progress toward your degree or certification program, no matter what school you are currently attending.

Apply:
To attend SVSU as a guest student, you must be in good standing at your home institution and be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
*Guest applications will be received by SVSU as official without an institutional seal as long as an authorizing signature is included. Scanned guest applications sent directly from the host institution are preferred, but during the COVID-19 Pandemic, applications will be temporarily accepted from the student's email address.
You are a non-degree post-baccalaureate student if you hold a baccalaureate or graduate degree and desire to enroll in one or more courses at SVSU without entering a degree program.
This option is often used by those wishing to pursue prerequisites for graduate school programs or for personal interest and already hold a bachelor's degree or higher.

You are an auditor if you wish to take courses at SVSU but desire neither credits nor grades for these courses. The tuition charge for an auditor is the same as that charged to the student who is taking the course for credit. Auditors are not eligible for financial aid. As an auditor, you are not required to submit high school or higher education transcripts. However, you must reapply each semester you wish to audit a course.
To audit a course, you must submit the following:
Auditors must register in-person at the Office of the Registrar and are eligible to register for courses during those registration periods that are open to all students. No student may register after the late registration period. Please visit Cardinal Direct for the registration schedule.
You are an "Exploring the University" student if you would like to take classes for personal enhancement or thinking about pursuing a college degree in the future. Exploring the University students are eligible to take up to 15 credits with a maximum of two courses per semester. At any time students may enter a degree program at SVSU by following the admissions criteria outlined for degree-seeking students. Credits earned through the program will transfer into a degree program. Students are not eligible for financial aid until they are enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Students must have a high school diploma or GED with no prior college coursework completed.
