Health & Safety

The safety, security, health and wellness of our students, staff and visitors are of utmost importance to us. SVSU has a number of departments that focus solely on these aspects, providing essential programs and services to the campus community.

The SVSU Police Department is staffed by certified police officers twenty-four hours a day seven days a week and participates in a mutual aid agreement with other local law enforcement agencies serving to expedite assistance from these agencies should their services be required. In addition, they have established a number of Safety and crime prevention programs that focus on education and awareness.

University Health Center, located inside Saginaw Valley HealthCare, provides walk-in primary medical care, disease prevention, health education and various specialty services to SVSU students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community.

At the Student Counseling Center, our goal is to promote wellness. Our trained and professional staff are here to help you along your journey as a college student. We offer individual counseling, groups, workshops and programs designed to promote mental health and wellness.

The Ryder Center provides opportunities for the campus community to engage in friendly competitive athletics, have fun and become fit. This facility is impressive with its indoor track, Olympic-sized swimming pool, fitness center, basketball courts, badminton courts, racquetball courts, volleyball courts, outdoor archery range and outdoor tennis courts.
