At its October 26, 2026, meeting, the SVSU Board of Control approved a purchase agreement to acquire Cardinal Corners, a townhome-style housing community located at the southwest corner of Pierce and Davis roads. The transaction is expected to close Friday, October 30.
The acquisition supports SVSU's long-term strategic planning efforts by expanding student housing opportunities, addressing future university needs and strengthening connections with the surrounding community.
Cardinal Corners currently accommodates approximately 350 residents and will continue to operate with minimal changes during the initial transition period. The community will remain under the management of its current property management company for up to two years following the acquisition. Existing lease agreements will remain in effect and be honored according to their current terms.
SVSU will implement a phased transition plan to integrate Cardinal Corners into SVSU Housing over a period of up to two years. This approach will allow the university to thoughtfully plan for future operations while maintaining continuity and minimizing disruptions for current residents.
Please note: Cardinal Corners represents the eastern portion of the larger apartment complex commonly known as Campus Village Apartments. SVSU's acquisition does not include the western portion of the complex, which will remain privately owned.
