D'aira Barnes, Study Abroad Student Assistant
I'm D'aira Barnes and I am an Early Childhood Education major pursing an endorsement in ESL. I was born and raised here in Saginaw, Mi and am currently in my third year at SVSU. I loved getting the opportunity to study abroad in South Korea last year, and I gained so many new friends and memories through the program. I now spend so much time encouraging my friends to take on the study abroad experience and enjoy having the opportunity to help people find their chance to go abroad as a peer advisor in the OIP.

My name is Rishit Dave, and I am junior at Saginaw Valley State University. I am from India. I am majoring in Public Health with a minor in Chemistry. I serve as a Resident Assistant at Merry Jo Brandimore House and also work with the Office of International Programs. I enjoy connecting with people from different cultures and creating a welcoming community on campus. In the future, I hope to build a career in public health and make a positive impact on communities.

Lydia Liong, International Partnerships Student Tutor
About me:
Lydia Liong is an international student from Malaysia, majoring in Early Childhood Education and a collegiate tennis player. She works with the Office of International Programs as a social media advisor and tutors CCNU and other international students, supporting English development and integration into SVSU campus life. In addition, Lydia works with UCOMM as a video editor and photographer, contributing to campus communications. She is passionate about cultural exchange, leadership, and creating inclusive learning environments.

Hello! I’m Gabriel and I work as a Student Assistant here at the OIP. I’m a senior year Computer Science student from Brazil! It is currently my third and final year at SVSU. I am also the President of International Student Club. I love playing video games, playing basketball, going to the gym, playing music or just relaxing and listening to music. About me:
My name is Riley Romer and I am a graduating senior. My hometown is Macomb, Michigan. I major in International Studies and Spanish as well as minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. My whole life I've dreamed of traveling the world and trying to make a difference in it. I am very lucky to have studied abroad in both Spain and South Korea. This semester I am taking on the role of Study Abroad Peer Advisor in the OIP. My goal is to encourage students, who may have never believed study abroad was possible for them, to try despite their circumstances. The programs at SVSU have truly changed my perspective on life and developed me into the person I am today.
