International students at airport

International Travel

We welcome international cardinals from all over the world, and we want to make sure that your arrival to SVSU goes as smoothly as possible!

Navigating all the documents and arrival arrangements can be complicated. We are here to help!

Your overview of what to do:

Documents to prepare:

  • A valid passport together with your visa.
  • The I-20 form provided by SVSU.

It is recommended to have additional documents ready, should they be needed:

  • Letter of Acceptance from SVSU.
  • SEVIS fee receipts (I-901 receipt) and other receipts and documents related to obtaining your visa.
  • Proof of sufficient financial support such as bank statements (At least as much as the amount indicated on your I-20 for estimated cost).
  • Additional documents that may be relevant to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Pre-arrival arrangements

  • book a flight into the U.S.
  • Arrange to be picked up from your arrival airport. (SVSU offers free airport pickups for international students flying into MBS International airport).
  • If you are arriving at a different airport, it is up to you to arrange for your travels in advance.
  • We will assist you with your key pickup for housing as well, should you have decided to live on campus.

For the airport pickup and assistance, you are required to fill out a Pre-Arrival Form in your Application Portal so that we can be there for you on time and have everything ready.
