What Can I Do With This Degree?

Early Childhood Education

The fast-growing field of early childhood provides opportunities for diverse careers working with young children. Graduates of the undergraduate program in early childhood are employed as:

  • Lead teachers in state-funded GSRP preschool classrooms
  • Lead teachers in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classrooms
  • Lead teachers in kindergarten, first, second, and third grade classrooms
  • Teachers for state-funded local nature centers
  • Directors of early childhood childcare and afterschool programs
  • Trainers for Great Start Resource Centers supporting licensed childcare providers

 In addition to the above careers, graduates of the Graduate (MAT) program in early childhood are employed as:

  • Early childhood specialists (ECS) for local GSRP programs
  • Administrators in early childhood school programs
  • Special Education (Birth-3) home visitors
  • Early On Service Coordinators and Program Directors
  • Instructors of Child Development at local community colleges
