Department of Music Strategic Goals

The SVSU Music Department:

• Delivers high-quality academic programs in Music and Music Education that develop students’ collaborative, innovative, and creative skills and abilities, preparing them for 21st century music careers.   
• Contributes to the University’s goal of being a cultural center for the region by offering and promoting a variety of public performances, workshops, masterclasses, and clinics.
• Showcases the university across Michigan through performances, workshops, masterclasses, and clinics by students, faculty, and guest artists.  
• Offers generous scholarship opportunities to students to major in music or music education.
• Collaborates with community organizations, ensembles, and schools in events throughout the region, generating visibility for the department and university.
