Marching Band Information

Thank you for your interest in joining one of the biggest, most spirited organizations on the SVSU campus--the Cardinal Marching Band.  This page contains important information on how you can get involved.

There are 2 steps to joining the Cardinal Marching Band.

1. Enroll in MUS 184.  For freshman you can do this when you come campus for your SOAR session.
2. Fill out the online information form on this page.

For woodwind and brass players that's all you need to do.  Letters with information on band camp and the fall season will be sent out over email around July 1.

Percussion and Drumline--If you are interested in joining the SVSU Drumline, contact our Percussion Instructor Jonathan Ovalle, jovalle@svsu.edu.  The Drumline does meet during the summer, so contact us as soon as possible so you don't miss any important information.

Colorguard--The colorguard tryouts for the Fall 2024 season have not been scheduled yet.  Check back for updated information.

Band Camp will take place August 19-22, 2023.  Students who will be living on campus will be allowed to move into their housing assignments on Monday, Aug. 19.  Complete band camp information, as well as all fall season performance information will be distributed in the band camp letter on or around July 1.
