Kerri Buyssens

Congratulations to Kerri Buyssens for receiving the 2025 Heroes in Education award earlier this year! Kerri began her teaching career as a full-time substitute teacher at Arthur Hill High School. After receiving her teaching certification from SVSU, she moved to North Carolina in 2007, where she taught English language arts at the middle school level for years. In 2012, Kerri moved back to Michigan and began teaching literature and English at Tawas Area Middle School, where she is currently employed. She recently received her master's degree in secondary reading. Kerri serves as the ELA department chair and grade-level chair for her school.
