Get to know Jill Waliczek, the 2025 Alumni Board 2nd Vice President, a little better. Jill graduated from SVSU in 2001 with a degree in Physical & Health Education and again in 2004 with her Masters of Educational Leadership-Principalship. She works at SVSU as the Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership. We asked Jill some questions about SVSU, and here is what she had to say,
Why did you want to join the SVSU Alumni Board?
I joined the alumni board to stay engaged with the university, give back to the institution that played a key role in my education and career, and support initiatives that benefit students and alumni. Given my passion for leadership, mentorship, and fostering educational success, see this as an opportunity to contribute to alumni connections, student development, and the overall growth of SVSU.
What was your favorite part about SVSU while you were a student?
My favorite part of SVSU was being actively involved on campus, especially through Greek life. It gave me the opportunity to build lifelong friendships, excel academically, and develop a strong sense of philanthropy. The connections and networks I formed during my time at SVSU continue to contribute to my personal and professional success today.

What piece of advice would you give to current SVSU students?
Community, Opportunity, Impact
Community – SVSU fosters strong relationships, a supportive environment, and lifelong connections.
Opportunity – The university provides students with academic, professional, and leadership growth.
Impact – SVSU makes a meaningful difference in students’ lives, preparing them for success beyond graduation.
How did SVSU inspire you?
SVSU inspired me by providing a supportive community where I could grow academically, develop leadership skills, and form lifelong connections. Through campus involvement, Greek life, and engaging coursework, I gained confidence, a passion for education, and a commitment to service. The mentorship and opportunities I received as a student continue to shape my work today as an educator and leader.
How has your experience at SVSU helped you set an example for others in your field?
My experience at SVSU helped me set an example for others in my field by instilling the values of leadership, lifelong learning, and service. As a student, I developed strong academic foundations, built meaningful connections, and learned the importance of community engagement. Now, as an educator and leader, I strive to model these same principles by mentoring future school administrators, fostering collaboration, and advocating for student success. SVSU’s emphasis on hands-on learning and leadership development continues to influence my approach to education and professional growth.
What are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of the impact I've had on others—both professionally and personally. As an educator and leader, I take great pride in mentoring and supporting future school administrators, helping them grow into effective leaders who make a difference in their schools and communities. Personally, I'm proud of my family and the strong relationships I’ve built over the years. Whether through teaching, leadership, or community involvement, I find fulfillment in creating meaningful connections and contributing to the success of others.
What is something fun that you do in your leisure time?
Exercise, Read, Travel with family.
What is your favorite book or movie genre?
Currently my favorite reading has been the Iron Flame series.
