Brooke Elward

Meet Brooke Elward, a proud SVSU graduate and the talented owner of Be Photographed. Fueled by her passion for photography, both as a hobby and a profession, Brooke has been professionally capturing life's precious moments since 2022. She adores working with people and feels privileged to be part of their most joyous occasions.

Life at SVSU

Brooke chose to attend SVSU because she liked that it is a smaller university, but is still close to Saginaw. All throughout high school Brooke wanted to be a Radiologist Technician, until her senior year when she stumbled into the world of marketing and advertising and was hooked. She majored in Marketing at SVSU and knew that was the field for her.

Brooke immersed herself in campus life by participating in numerous activities like the Valley Nights, Valley Vanguard, Program Board, interning at the University Communications office, and even the Marching Band. Interestingly enough, she didn't play an instrument but served as the band's photographer. While covering a story about the marching band for Valley Vanguard, she found immense joy in capturing their essence through her camera lens. After discussing with the band director, Brooke officially became their photographer for two remarkable years.

Beyond SVSU

After graduating from SVSU Brooke worked at traditional marketing jobs for about a year, but found that she was not loving it. She knew that she loved photography and decided to go for it and start her own photography business. She started Be Photographed in October 2022 and has been blown away by how successful she has been!

She is based in Macomb but will travel anywhere in Michigan to take photos, and specializes in couples photography. Her business is ever evolving, which Brooke finds exciting. The most rewarding aspect of her job is witnessing clients' reactions when they see their edited photos ─ their faces instantly lit up with joy as they reminisce about their unforgettable moments.
