Annabelle Schweiger

Meet Annabelle Schweiger, class of 2023! During her time at SVSU, Annabelle made the most of every opportunity; interning with the FBI and getting involved in Alternative Breaks, F.E.M.E., CHAARG and Delta Sigma Pi. Now, she’s thriving at the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, where she manages Energize YPN, Bay City’s Young Professional Network. Annabelle loves that her job helps her to stay connected to the community, as well as SVSU! She feels like an active member of the SVSU community with her regular visits to campus for events and meetings!

Life at SVSU

Annabelle began her journey at SVSU studying criminal justice, but as she progressed through her courses and explored her interests, she made the decision to pursue a degree in business. Professors like Dr. Kevin Meyer and Dr. Hillary Mellema, enriched her academic experience and left a lasting impact.

Annabelle didn't just hit the books; she immersed herself in campus life. For three years, she participated in Alternative Breaks, exploring cities like Chicago and Nashville through meaningful service projects. When the pandemic hit, she adapted by engaging in online initiatives, proving that making a difference doesn't always require being physically present. Additionally, her involvement with F.E.M.E. (Female Empowerment & Multicultural Education) showcased her commitment to promoting inclusivity through volunteer efforts. As an active member of CHAARG (Changing Health Attitudes + Actions to Recreate Girls), a campus fitness group, and Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, Annabelle fully embraced the vibrant community SVSU offered. She also gained valuable professional experience working as a student employee in the Office of Graduate and International Admissions, where she supported prospective students and played a role in helping students feel informed, welcomed, and excited about joining the SVSU community.

Life Beyond SVSU

After graduating in 2023, Annabelle embarked on a new chapter as the Marketing & Membership Manager at the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. Her role evolved quickly, and by January 2025, she transitioned to the position of Marketing & Communications Manager. In this role, Annabelle can tap into her creativity, developing marketing campaigns, managing social media, and crafting content that highlights the Chamber’s initiatives and member businesses. The position also allows her to meet and connect with community members, building lasting relationships and friendships along the way.

One of her proudest roles is managing Energize, a Young Professionals Network catering to individuals aged 21-40. This program aims to enhance the Great Lakes Bay Region by cultivating business relationships, developing leadership roles, and ultimately retaining young professionals for economic growth in the greater Bay Area. Though she considers herself slightly introverted, she finds it refreshing that her job encourages her to step outside her comfort zone and connect with a diverse group of people. Additionally, she is part of the team behind Hey, Bay City!, an award winning Chamber program designed to attract and retain talent in Bay County, creating and supporting a thriving business community.

Outside of work, Annabelle keeps her passion for learning alive through book clubs and active participation in the community. She enjoys camping, baking, and exploring new restaurants. She loves that her job allows her to remain connected to the SVSU community, creating opportunities to return to campus for different events.
