SVSU Athletics is committed to providing all 500 student-athletes a Championship Experience that empowers excellence in the classroom, in competition, and in the community. Oppor2nity Days 2026 will support Student-Athlete Wellness resources, including strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, athletic training, updated equipment, and mental health services.

Michigan faces a severe teacher shortage, yet certification exams can cost education graduates over $400, and state grants that once helped cover these fees were not renewed. During Opportunity Days 2026, March 18-19, we aim to raise $5,000 to help offset testing costs. With a 95.1% first-time pass rate, supporting SVSU education students is a smart investment.

With Opportunity Days support, the College of Arts & Behavioral Sciences is building an endowment for the $15,000 Roethke Poetry Prize. This will help sustain the triennial Roethke Poetry & Arts Festival, bringing together SVSU students, regional poets, musicians, and arts fans. During Opportunity Days 2026, March 18-19, Alumni Relations invites 100 alumni to give $100 to the 2026 Cardinal 100 Fund. These gifts support an innovative student project in 2027, with matching funds available during Opportunity Days. The 2025-26 fund restored the SVSU Observatory and campus telescope, expanding hands-on learning for students.
