Book an Appointment

The SVSU Writing Center provides free sessions to SVSU students and the broader community both virtually and on SVSU's campus (in Zahnow 250). These sessions can be about any kind of writing, speech-giving, or podcasting at any stage of development, from idea generating, to draft developing, to editing, and even to presenting.

The Writing Center does accept walk-ins, but booking an appointment is the only way to guarantee a session with a tutor.

To meet with a Writing Center tutor, please schedule an appointment using the link below:

To Book an Appointment:

  • Click the "Book Appointment" button above.
  • Select your appointment type (online, in-person, asynchronous review, or podcasting).
  • Select a date, tutor, and time.
  • Enter your information, including your email address (for asynchronous review: paste in a share link to your document into the "Note" box of the form).
  • Click "Book." You should receive a session confirmation email.

To Complete an In-Person Session:

Come to the Writing Center on campus (Zahnow 250) at your scheduled time, and your tutor will be waiting for you.

You are welcome to bring a digital or printed copy of your work to your session, or you can simply come with ideas and questions.

To Complete an Online Session:

Access the Teams link in your appointment confirmation email to start your appointment at the scheduled time.

Make sure you have:

  • A computer camera and a working microphone.
  • The Teams Desktop version for appointments (download and install MS Teams). If you are not able to use the Teams Desktop Version, open Google Chrome or MS Edge, go to, log in, and authenticate.

Booking Policies

Visitors are welcome to book up to 1 hour of appointments each day.

Visitors should cancel sessions they will not attend.

SVSU students must include their SVSU email in the booking form's "Email" field.

  • Only community members may use non-SVSU emails to book sessions.
