Book an Appointment

The SVSU Writing Center provides free sessions to SVSU students both in-person in the Writing Center (in Zahnow 250) and virtually. These sessions can be about any kind of writing, speech-giving, or podcast assignments at any stage of development, from idea generating, to draft developing, to editing, and even to presenting.

Walk-ins are encouraged, and you can also book an appointments here on our site.  

 

The Podcasting and Media Room is available during our normal hours of operation

(Fall 2025: Monday - Thursday until 4 p.m. and Friday until 3 p.m.).

To Book an Appointment:

  • Click the "Book Appointment" button above.
  • Select your appointment type (in-person, online).
  • Select a date, tutor, and time.
  • Enter your information, including your email address.
  • Click "Book." You should receive a session confirmation email.
  • For online appointments, you will also receive an email from your scheduled tutor with the link to begin your session on Teams. 

To Complete an In-Person Session: 

Come to the Writing Center on campus (Zahnow 250). If you booked an appointment in advance, come at your scheduled time, and your tutor will be waiting for you.

You are welcome to bring a digital or printed copy of your work to your session, or you can simply come with ideas and questions.

To Complete an Online Session:

Access the Teams link in the appointment confirmation email from your Writing Center Tutor to start your appointment at the scheduled time.

Make sure you have:

  • A computer camera and a working microphone.
  • The Teams Desktop version for appointments (download and install MS Teams). If you are not able to use the Teams Desktop Version, open your browser of choice, go to teams.microsoft.com, log in, and authenticate.

General Writing Center Sessions and Booking Policies

Visitors are welcome to book up to 1 hour of appointments each day.

Visitors should cancel sessions they will not attend.

Having an Issue?

If you encounter technological problems, please directly email the Writing Center Tutor associated with your session.

If you can no longer make it to your appointment, please cancel or reschedule your appointment. You can access the cancellation page through the appointment’s confirmation email. Staff is notified of these changes.
