What do we do at the Writing Center?

We provide free, individual tutoring sessions for SVSU students to help you with any writing assignments for any class.

We help you:

  • understand your writing assignments and interpret feedback that you receive from your professors.
  • develop your ideas throughout entire writing process. This can begin with brainstorming ideas, reviewing your rough draft(s), and helping you to craft your final draft.
  • cite the sources that you use for your writing assignments.

We also:

  • offer writing workshops throughout the Fall and Winter semesters focused on helping your learn more about APA, MLA, and academic resources.
  • provide handouts and materials on APA, MLA, and CMS, as well as other writing resources, such as recent resources on AI in academic writing.
provide both in-person and online tutoring sessions.
