Hospitality Management Certificate Program

The Hospitality Management certificate program at SVSU gives individuals the opportunity to develop critical job skills necessary for event specialists. This program allows individuals to become certified in event planning in a convenient hybrid format. The content learned in these courses will prepare individuals to hold hospitality and event coordinator positions.  This certificate program is ideal for those new to the hospitality field and event planning professionals who have the desire to take the next step in their careers. Students will work directly with experts in this field throughout the entire program.

Program Costs?

$250.00 per credit hour. 

Program costs are divided up by semesters. For example, Fall 2023 semester fees are due the first week of classes.

This certificate can supplement any degree program or stand-alone to begin your career in event planning. The program offers a convenient, hybrid learning experience that can be completed in one year.

 

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Students that withdraw from the program up to two weeks prior to the start of classes will receive a refund of the program fees paid less a $300 cancellation charge. Students withdrawing after this, but before the beginning of the first class may receive a refund of the program fees of less than $600. Students withdrawing from the programs after the start of the first class but before completing the first online course may transfer to the next scheduled program offering but their program fees will not be refunded.

Students who enroll in a payment plan are obligated to pay the full course fee if they cancel at any time after the two-week deadline or after the start of the course. Students will be given the opportunity to transfer to the next scheduled MCPM® course.

  • All transfers into future courses are accepted with an ~9% transfer fee calculated from the original registration costs. Transfers are also subject to the availability of spots in the future course.

International Tourism Certificate Program

Certify today, and travel the world tomorrow!

The International Tourism certificate program at Saginaw Valley State University aims to teach managerial skills within the tourism industry. This course will offer an introduction to the world’s largest industry, ranging from important definitions to applied skills and a concrete understanding of tourism as a lifestyle. Tourism leaders can positively impact their industry by using their newly acquired skills to make strategic management decisions, assess the impact of policy on tourism, communicate professionally, improve efficiency and effectiveness in managerial and operational methods, and lastly examine the future of the tourism industry.

SVSU proudly presents a unique opportunity: the Introduction to International Tourism Certificate Program, developed in collaboration with renowned international guide and lecturer, Patrick Twomey.

In-person classes will be held at SVSU in Curtis Hall. Online synchronous classes will be held virtually through Zoom. 

The commencement and conclusion dates for the class are still pending confirmation.
