National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

NSSE survey header

Attention all first-year and senior undergraduate students -- You are invited to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) 2019.

WHAT

300 width

NSSE is an annual survey completed by first-year and senior students in colleges and universities all across Canada and the U.S. This survey collects important information on the undergraduate university experience, and its results are often used to make comparisons between universities. Most importantly, the results of this survey highlight any changes that must be made to outdated university policy, changes that will enrich the undergraduate experience.

HOW

Students

If you are eligible to complete the NSSE survey, you will receive a link to it in your SVSU email. Do NOT delete it thinking it’s phishing or spam. Our ITS staff has done a great job of educating the campus community about the ways to spot phishing and unfortunately the email you will receive could trigger a few of those instincts.

  • The sender email address will be different from the email author.
  • There will be an active link in the email that is customized to you and is the only way for you to initiate the survey.

ABOUT NSSE

Through its student survey, NSSE collects information about first-year and senior students' participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. The results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college.

At SVSU, NSSE survey results have aided the development of the following initiatives:

  • Study Abroad 101
  • Center for Community Engagement
  • Voter registration program

If you have any questions about SVSU’s participation in the NSSE please contact Dr. Josh Ode, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Data analyses will be distributed in the fall and utilized in the program review process. Additional information about NSSE is available online.
