SVSU's Marketing program offers a strong foundation in business and emphasizes data analytics and emerging technologies. In later semesters, students have the opportunity to pursue courses in consumer behavior and analytics, market research, advertising strategy, international marketing, services marketing, sales management, social media marketing, physical distribution management and marketing strategy. Life as a Marketing major includes superb in-class instruction, internships and access to quality facilities which all accumulate into the development of analytical, communication, decision making, interpersonal, collaboration and organizational skills.
The Marketing program challenges students to identify key markets for products and services by actively analyzing and engaging in the wants and needs of their consumers. SVSU's first-rate faculty members push students to better understand the nature of global competition and strive to envision viable competitive strategies. With access to behavior and big data labs as well as SAP technology, Marketing students overcome rookie professional stereotypes as they develop, manage and defend self-made marketing and advertising campaigns from start to finish. Through these real-world assignments, where client sponsored projects are almost a part of every class, marketing students don't just contend with rival interest groups—they rise above them. As graduates, these cardinals are able to choose and effectively apply methods for planning and implementing marketing strategies, all while fulfilling their legal and ethical responsibilities as marketers.
SVSU Marketing students work on client-funded “real world” projects in which they can apply what they have learned in the classroom.
Less than 5% of business colleges globally are accredited by the AACSB-International—SVSU's Scott L. Carmona College of Business is one of them.
Marketing students have access to exceptional campus resources ranging from behavioral labs for consumer research to SAP, a globally recognized enterprise resource planning software.
Students have had internships with major organizations like Quicken Loans, Doner Advertising, Saginaw Spirit, Nexteer, Coffee Beanery, University Directories, Aramark, Duro-Last, Aflac and more!
Opening in 2020, the new Scott L. Carmona College of Business will offer state-of-the-art laboratories like the Bloomberg trading room, consumer behavior labs and other team project environments providing opportunities to work with regional business leaders on projects that reflect real-world experiences.
