The application for Student Teaching is completed nearly one year before Student Teaching . The application is completed on-line during the month of March for the following Winter Semester and during the month of November for the following Fall Semester. Applying for Student Teaching is not the same as registering for Student Teaching courses . A student will still need to register at the appropriate time. If applicable a student will usually apply for graduation at the same time as registering for Student Teaching.
Elementary teachers normally register for TE 410 (Seminar in Elementary Teaching) and TE 420 (Elementary Student Teaching for 14 weeks). Be sure you use the correct section number when your register.
Secondary teachers normally register for TEMS 412 (Seminar in Secondary Teaching) and TEMS 422 (Secondary Student Teaching for 14 weeks). Be sure you use the correct section number when your register.
Students who want to change or add a major and/or minor to their academic program must complete a Program Change Form (15KB) and submit it to the College of Education Admissions and Certification Office. This should be done before filing an application for Student Teaching. If a change is made after the application has been submitted, the student should notify the Office of Clinical Experiences of any changes in their academic program when the Program Change Form has been submitted.
