SVSU’s Stevens Center for Family Business Supports FB Success
Saginaw Valley State University alumni who own or work in their own family business can access a unique and valuable opportunity – becoming part of a community which is dedicated to supporting the success of family businesses, both in their business pursuits and in achieving family harmony.
Founded in 1999-2000, the Stevens Center for Family Business, part of the Scott L. Carmona College of Business at SVSU, is a professional organization dedicated to providing information about best practices in the unique aspects of owning and leading a family business. Family businesses can be complicated – it’s just as important to manage the family as to manage the business.
The SCFB provides learning opportunities that focus specifically on the subjects and topics relevant to family-owned enterprises, such as succession planning, developing the next generation to lead, leveraging the competitive advantages of family business, effectively dealing with conflict, preserving history and traditions while innovating, and many more.
The SCFB brings to campus many experts in the field. On Wednesday, October 11, 4 to 6 pm, Denise Ilitch will be the featured keynoter during a major event on campus, discussing “Ilitch Family Business Principles.” There is no admission cost; however, pre-registration is required. See details at www.svsu.edu/stevenscenterforfamilybusiness.
The Center also provides networking opportunities, where family business owners and leaders can get acquainted and learn how others have dealt with the particular challenges that owning and operating a family business can involve.
SVSU alumni who are part of a family business are encouraged to contact the Stevens Center for Family Business, and join the hundreds of family enterprises – large and small – who have already benefited from this unique resource.
