Cardinals Take Flight invites SVSU alumni to keep exploring, learning, and discovering the world, no matter where life has taken you. Your education doesn’t stop at graduation, and now you can “study abroad” for a lifetime through travel experiences designed just for Cardinal graduates.
Choose the adventure that fits your style:
Each trip offers different pricing and accommodations, so you can pick what works best for you.
Whether you studied abroad at SVSU or never had the opportunity, Cardinals Take Flight offers meaningful, well-curated travel experiences designed with alumni in mind.
Faculty-Led Study Abroad trips offer alumni the chance to join short, academically focused travel experiences led by SVSU faculty. These 1–3 week programs typically include 10–20 participants and take an in-depth look at a single topic, such as travel photography, global business, or healthcare. Because these trips are designed for students, alumni may participate only if space remains after student registration, so placement is not guaranteed. If selected, alumni will need to register as a guest student (a quick and free process) to participate.
These experiences vary in price and accommodations, and they’re ideal for alumni who want structured learning, meaningful cultural engagement, and the unique opportunity to travel alongside current Cardinals. Faculty-led programs also provide special access to experiences you wouldn’t get on your own, such as lectures from expert professors or exclusive sessions with industry leaders.
Join SVSU’s OLLI group for a memorable New Year’s trip to Paris. OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) is a national organization dedicated to providing high-quality learning experiences for adults 50 and over. It has extended this special travel opportunity to the entire alumni community. This trip runs from December 28, 2026, to January 3, 2027, at a cost of $6,538 per person, which includes the full tour package, flights from DTW, and travel insurance.
With a thoughtfully planned itinerary, travelers will enjoy experiences such as tea at the Palace of Versailles, a hands-on Parisian baking class, and a festive New Year’s Eve celebration. Designed with a slower pace in mind, this trip offers a balance of guided activities and ample free time to explore the city on your own. Alumni are welcome to bring a guest, making it an ideal option for those looking for a relaxed, culturally rich getaway.

Earlier this year, we asked alumni where they would like to go on an exclusive trip abroad. We gathered your input and are working on creating the perfect trip! Information about the trip: location, dates, activities, and price, will be announced in 2026, with the trip taking place in 2027.
