Cardinal Volunteers, the Office of Student Life and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs partner to coordinate SVSU's Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service! The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a winter service event for SVSU students where they participate in community service at locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region.
In November 2019 Cardinal Volunteers, the Office of Student Life and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs partnered to coordinate the first Native American Heritage Month Day of Service. The Native American Heritage Month Day of Service is a Fall community service program for SVSU students. The 2019 Day of Service consisted of a free lunch and a presentation followed by a trip to Ziibiwing Center of Anishinaabe Culture & Lifeways in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. At Ziibiwing, participants will assist in assembling craft kits while being educated on the historical significance of the artwork.

The Cesar Chavez Day of Service is a spring service event for SVSU students where they participate in community service at locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and learn about the historical significance of Cesar Chavez.
