Second Semester

You completed your first semester! Consider these items as you finish year one:

Your First Year Advising Appointment is the third and final step to your orientation to SVSU. All first-year students are required to meet with an Peer or Academic Advisor at least during your first two terms to create a degree plan and talk through graduation requirements. Student must have this completed prior to April 1st in order to register for their second year of classes. To schedule your appointment, click here!

It's hard to think we should already be thinking about next year when this year isn't even done, but here we are! If you have completed your First Year Advising appointment, courses for the coming year should already be outlined in your Timeline, but this does not mean they are set in stone or registered for! Consider making a second advising appointment mid-March to plan days and times for fall and winter classes for your second year and talk about academic load.

Thinking about spring and summer classes? Great! Students are not required to take classes during the summer months, but it can be a great strategy for students. You can choose to take classes at SVSU or back home at a Community College as a guest student.
