Undergraduate Student-led Research

The purpose of this grant is to fund opportunities for students to conduct their own research.  With the support of a faculty mentor, students in all disciplines are eligible.  Projects can receive funding up to $2,500.

Funding may be used for wages and/or materials (excluding food unless required for research subjects). Student should not work more than 15 hours/week during a regular semester

Students must name a faculty mentor and upload a letter of support/consent from the faculty member (see appendix instructions below for details). 

Eligibility: Any undergraduate student conducting an independent research project in any discipline is eligible.  Any student earning salary must be registered for at least 6 credits during the academic year (6 or more credits fall semester/ 6 or more credits winter semester). If the student is receiving course credit for the project (i.e. independent study/honors thesis) they are ineligible for student salary.

Students can receive up to $2,500 cumulative from student-led research grants during their time at SVSU.
