Family Business Research Grant

The family business research grant is a team based, multi-year program to support high-quality publishable research on family business issues.

Given the significance of family business to the region, the College of Business seeks to increase the breadth and depth of our collective knowledge on family business issues and strengthen the SVSU brand within the larger family business community and the broader academic community.

Eligibility: Proposals accepted from research teams consisting of either faculty, endowed chairs, or staff within the College of Business. The team must have at least one faculty member.

Required Outcomes: In order to qualify, research teams must commit to a family business research agenda.  In the first year, the team is expected to develop no fewer than two papers for submission to referred publications.

Funding:  The grant funds up to two years of research support.

In year one, the grant will provide a leadership stipend, a part time research assistant, and supplemental travel support to each grant member who attends a conference as part of a refereed presentation. In year two, the grant will provide additional supplemental travel support for referred presentations of family business research.

The College will provide funding for up to two qualified teams. Anticipated awards will range from $8,000-$15,000/team. The College may award more than one grant.
