The purpose of the award is to establish a community of faculty who are engaged in developing strategies for how individual faculty or departments can revise teaching methods, course design, or curriculum in response to one of the two topics previously described. Each faculty community member will develop a project to be shared formally with colleagues in the university community.

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning seeks faculty who are interested in joining with colleagues in a Faculty Learning Community to explore either ways to integrate career readiness into their courses or strategies for designing and delivering lectures that truly stick.

Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) have proven to be a successful strategy for faculty professional development, especially in meeting students' learning needs. These communities not only enhance teaching effectiveness but also offer professional growth opportunities for participating faculty members. FLCs align with the objectives of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), which are to advance the understanding and application of high-impact, research-backed teaching methods and to foster a community of faculty dedicated to exchanging ideas about teaching and learning.

Eligibility - The FLC is open to all full-time faculty. Prior familiarity with the FLC topic is not required. If there are more applicants than available spots, priority will be given to faculty who have not previously participated in an FLC.

Each academic year applicants may choose between distinct Faculty Learning Community Topics. As identified in the grant application guidelines.
