Programs of Distinction both inspire and challenge students who see the expansion of their educational horizons as endeavors going far beyond the classroom. Students in Programs of Distinction don’t just finish assignments and projects, they seek out faculty as academic and professional mentors who can help them shape their careers. They undertake challenging coursework and extra-curricular activities, and develop research and service projects that make them competitive in graduate school and within their chosen professions.
In your second year, you are ready for more - more challenge, more opportunities...if you are a Liberal Arts student, consider applying for the Botz Liberal Arts Fellowship. This allows majors to complete an internship in a business setting.
Kantzler Fellows show leadership, character, commitment to community service, and potential for future community service. Through grants from the Kantzler Foundation, SVSU is able to select 2-3 new Kantzler Fellows each year, and provide support to a total of 8-12 active Kantzler Fellows representing all four class levels. Upperclassmen actively mentor Fellows at lower class levels.
The Fellowship encourages distinguished upper-level students from all majors to pursue more ambitious professional goals than they may previously have considered. With a primary focus on leadership from a global perspective, the program includes weekly collaborative seminars, a student-led service project, interactions with local and global leaders, one-on-one faculty mentorship, and international travel. Roberts-Gilbertson Fellows find their experiences to be life-changing and inspiring as they enter graduate school and a broad range of careers
The SVSU Undergraduate Research Program (UGRP) supports the university’s value in academic exploration and achievement by providing opportunities for our undergraduate students to participate in hands on research experiences in a variety of unique and meaningful ways. The program funds four distinct research grants including: UGRP faculty-led grant, UGRP student-led grant, UGRP student-travel grant, and UGRP mini student-led grant.
Junior- and senior-level SVSU students in the Scott L. Carmona College of Business have the opportunity of amazing in-class, networking, international travel, and leadership opportunities.
