Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree Courses / Curriculum

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program consists of a core of 31 credits plus three graduate-level business elective courses.

Business & Management Core (24 cr)

Core classes may be taught as hybrid courses (contact your Program Coordinator for details).

  • ACCT 601 - Accounting for Managers 3 credits
  • ECON 601 - Economics for Managers 3 credits
  • FIN 601 - Managerial Finance 3 credits
  • MGT 601 - Social Responsibility & Ethics 3 credits
  • MGT 602 - Organizational Behavior and Leadership 3 credits
  • MGT 603 - Global Operations and Supply Chain Mgt. 3 credits
  • MGT 695 - Strategic Management of Global Corporat 3 credits
  • MKT 601 - Marketing Management 3 credits

Required Electives

Four 600-level business courses. If three courses are all in the same discipline, the student will have a concentration in that discipline. It is not necessary to have all three electives in the same discipline. (examples, accounting, finance, management, marketing

Foundation Courses (6 cr, unless waived)

Foundation courses will be taught online.

Concentration in Entrepreneurship

Students wishing to take a concentration in entrepreneurship must take:

  • MGT 643 - Entrepreneurship & New Venture Creation 3 credits
  • MKT 645 - From the Invention to the Market 3 credits

    OR

  • ETM 645 - From the Invention to the Market 3 credits
  • FIN 603 - Issues in Financial Entreprene 2 credits
  • MGT 646 - Research Project for an Invention 3 credits

OR

  • ETM 646 - Research Project for an Invention 3 credits

Students must also submit their business plan to a competition for evaluation.

Concentration in Health Administration

Students wishing to take a concentration in Healthcare Administration must take three of the following courses:

  • FIN 634 - Healthcare Finance 3 credits
  • MGT 634 - Performance Improvement in Healthcare 3 credits
  • MKT 637 - Healthcare Marketing 3 credits
  • HS 510 - Accreditation Process Improvement 3 credits
  • HS 600 - US Health & Human Services Systems 3 credits
  • HS 630 - Developing Community for System Health 3 credits

Concentration in Business Analytics

Students wishing to take a concentration in business analytics must complete the following courses (or other electives approved by the MBA Director):

  • MKT 635 - Marketing Analytics 3 credits
  • ACCT 613 - Management Accounting Systems 3 credits

Certificate in International Business

(5 courses, minimum 12 cr, and from a minimum of four functional areas)

A Certificate in International Business will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the following requirements:

These courses may be used simultaneously to satisfy the three courses of “Electives” required for the M.B.A. Students who already have obtained an M.B.A. and who desire to obtain a Certificate in International Business may do so by completing the courses that are not part of their official transcripts. The certificate will be awarded upon completion of the requirements. Additional international business special topics courses can be designated as satisfying certificate requirements prior to the time the courses are offered. Students must have completed a four-year undergraduate degree with a 3. 0 GPA to be eligible for admission to the certificate.
