SVSU College of Business and Management Family Business Research Grant
(Due by 4:30 January 19 yearly or next business day if the due date falls on the weekend)

  • Purpose: Increase the breadth and depth of our collective knowledge on family business issues and strengthen the SVSU brand within the larger family business community and the broader academic community.
  • Eligibility: Research teams must be either faculty, endowed chairs, or staff within the CBM. The team must have at least one faculty member.

SVSU Foundation Resource Grant Program
(Due by 4:30 February 15 and October 15 yearly or next business day if the due date falls on the weekend
)

Applicants will be utilizing a new online grant proposal process at kew.svsu.edu .

  • All faculty and staff are eligible to apply for grant for projects enriching the educational experience of students.
  • The funds are generated by distributions from the SVSU Foundation Resource Fund Endowment. The program was created to encourage innovation and enrichment of opportunities for students.  The program supports domestic conference/event travel experiences, seminars, entertainment, cultural experiences, one-time start up funds for new programs, and other projects and activities. 

  • Please note that the Resource Grant Program will no longer accept request for study abroad.

  • Submit by accessing kew.svsu.edu and clicking on Resource Grant Report Form under SVSU Foundation Forms.

The Allen Foundation Student/Faculty Research Grant
(Due by 4:30 March 15 yearly or next business day if the due date falls on the weekend)

  • The purpose of the grant is to support student/faculty research that addresses various health and nutritional issues facing the region.
  • Project Dates: May 1, 2014 - April 30, 2015

SVSU College of Education Research Award

  • Purpose: to provide SEED MONEY designated to support research and stimulate the submission of proposals to other agencies for external funding.
  • Eligibility: Proposals are accepted from full-time faculty members on continuing appointment in the COE.

Student Research & Creativity Institute
(Due March 31 and October 31 yearly or next business day if the due date falls on the weekend )

  • The purpose of the Institute is to support and promote outstanding and innovative student work in the arts, humanities, sciences, professional disciplines, and community service.  Students may submit written proposals as individuals or teams.
  • All Projects will require faculty or staff mentorship and supervision.

Faculty who have been awarded three unit grants in the last five years are ineligible for additional awards unless they have applied for external funding through Sponsored Programs.

  • What this is for:  Faculty Research is defined as research leading to publication or presentation.
  • Who is eligible: Proposals are accepted from full-time faculty members on continuing appointment.
  • Faculty may apply for funds/release time.
  • Project Dates: July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2015
  • Release Time: F14 or W15

SVSU Professional Growth Grant

)
We suggest you submit earlier to allow Sponsored Programs time to review your application.

Faculty who have been awarded three unit grants in the last five years are ineligible for additional awards unless they have applied for external funding through Sponsored Programs.

  • What this is for: Professional Growth encourages scholarly activities such as pursuit of advanced course work or a degree in the faculty member's own or new disciplines; retraining to develop a new specialty, such as computer programming; to learn a new research skill, such as oral history techniques; or to develop a new pedagogical skill, such as competency-based instruction. Use this application to apply for one-time $1,000 Ph.D. program support.
  • Who is eligible: Proposals are accepted from full-time faculty members on continuing appointment and administrative professionals in Academic Affairs.
  • Dates: July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2015

Saginaw Bay ESI Research Grants (Applications are currently being accepted, no due date).

  • Purpose: Facilitate seed projects involving scientific research focused on the Saginaw Bay Watershed (e.g. water quality, pollution, land use, wildlife health/habitat, environmental/public health, geospatial characterization).  Awards are limited to $4,000 each.
  • Eligibility: SVSU faculty and staff – preference will be given to those who are actively involved in the Saginaw Bay ESI.  One application per year is allowed per project or evaluator.

  • Applicants are encouraged to discuss their projects with the institute director (David Karpovich) or any SVSU member of the steering (Tami Sivy, Martin Arford, and Arthur Martin).  Review will begin as soon as possible after proposal receipt.
