Welcome to Saginaw Valley State University. Starting college is exciting and yes, it is even sometimes overwhelming.

For many students, it’s the first taste of adult responsibility (waking up to go to class, meeting academic deadlines, paying bills and making new friends). For many parents, it’s the first real separation and change from managing your child’s life to supporting it. Encouragement, awareness, empathy and involvement are ways you can support your student to make their SVSU experience the very best.

We have categorized resources to address some of common questions and to provide guidance to your child (if they ask!). It is by no means a complete resource, but it will answer some of the more common, first year questions.
