SVSU Nursing Grads Stand Out on Testing
|
Graduates of Saginaw Valley State University’s nursing program continue to stand out, achieving a 98.55% first-time pass rate on the NCLEX®, the national licensure exam in 2024. Nurses must pass this exam to become licensed and enter the nursing profession. NCLEX reports pass rates at the end of every quarter throughout the year. Through December 31, 2024, 136 Saginaw Valley State University recent nursing graduates passed the NCLEX-RN test, demonstrating their readiness to work.
“SVSU is proud of our students and graduates, who work diligently to prepare to provide exceptional patient care,” said Beth Roe, SVSU professor of nursing and nursing program director. “This standout NCLEX pass rate is evidence that our robust academic program, which includes experiential learning in our Nursing Simulation Center and with health care agencies in the community, prepares our students to be successful on the licensure exam and to be practice-ready.”
The 2024 first-time pass rate on the NCLEX-RN in Michigan was just shy of 92%, while the national rate was slightly over 91%.

Nursing Simulation Center Earns Reaccreditation
|
The Nursing Simulation Center at Saginaw Valley State University has been granted reaccreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and the Council for Accreditation of Healthcare Simulation Programs, recognizing the center’s commitment to simulation best practices and educational excellence. This reaccreditation is valid through December 31, 2029.
In the Nursing Simulation Center at Saginaw Valley State University, students in the university’s nursing program engage in experiential learning that helps develop their skills and reinforces lecture content. Research correlates simulation experiences with positive student learning outcomes.
The rigorous accreditation process involved continuous tracking and data collection and extensive documentation, as well as a thorough site visit. During this visit, two accreditors from different areas of the United States conducted a comprehensive evaluation, meeting with stakeholders including simulation educators and actors, student mentors, coordinators, faculty, students and university administration. The accreditors observed live simulations and inspected the entire facility to verify the evidence presented in the reaccreditation application.
