Before it launches, we encourage you to learn the basics through the first training session: Introduction to Workday – Basic Navigation and Key Features.

Rush Lecture to Address AI in Education
|
Erik Trump, director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, will deliver the 2025 Thomas and Hilda Rush Distinguished Lecture Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 4 p.m. in Founders Hall.
Trump’s presentation, “Artificial Intelligence and the Next Generation of Higher Ed: Engage,” explores the widespread impact of AI and the conflict it brings to higher education.

SVSU Swim, Dive Teams Scholar All-America Honors
|
SVSU’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been recognized for their academic success. The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) selected the teams for its 2024-25 Fall Scholar All-America Award, honoring programs that achieve high standards in the classroom.
In a message announcing the award, Samantha Barany, CSCAA executive director, wrote, “Coach Jason Lintjer, their staff, and the entire team have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to success both academically and athletically, setting a standard of excellence we can all be proud of.”
To earn Scholar All-America recognition, teams must have achieved a grade point average above 3.0 during the fall 2024 semester. The SVSU women's team posted a GPA of 3.52; the men's team, 3.2.

Marshall Fredericks Museum to Screen Film
|
The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum will host a film screening of “Black Art in the Absence of Light” on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1:00 p.m. in the Rhea Miller Recital Hall. Following the film screening, guests are invited to delve deeper into the art and stories explored in the film and view the “David C. Driskell & Friends: Creativity, Collaboration, & Friends” exhibition at the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum. There is no charge to attend the screening or to enter the Museum, but registration is requested.

Save the Date to Support SVSU Students
|
The SVSU Foundation will hold its annual Oppor2nity Days fundraising event on Wednesday and Thursday, March 19 and 20. This year, the goal is to raise $100,000 to help students stay in school and become career ready, as well as to fund priorities identified by each of SVSU's five colleges. Look for more information in the coming weeks.

Campus Climate Survey Results to be Presented
|
The results of the campus climate survey will be shared during two presentations on Monday, April 7. Last fall, Rankin Climate, LLC, conducted the Assessment of Climate for Learning, Living, and Working survey, encouraging all members of the SVSU community to respond. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the presentations. More information about the presentations will be shared in the coming weeks.

The SVSU Foundation Resource Grant and Community Engagement Grant programs are accepting proposals now through Monday, March 17.
Resource Grants support projects led by faculty or staff that directly involve and benefit SVSU students and support one or more of the university's strategic goals. The Community Engagement Grants support projects led by faculty or staff that involve SVSU students and advance the university's engagement with — and service to — the regional community.

Football Youth Clinics Precede Basketball Games Saturday
|
SVSU Community Youth Days presents a football clinic tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 8) before the men’s and women’s basketball teams meet Michigan Tech on the court.
The free clinic runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with onsite registration beginning at 10:45 a.m. The women play at 1 p.m.; the men follow at 3 p.m.
