IRB Project vs. Package

IRB Project

• The IRB project is the overall research study in the IRBNet system.
• The project stays the same throughout the life cycle of the study, from submission to closure.
• It contains all stages and submissions related to that study.

IRB Package

• An IRB package is an individual submission in IRBNet related to the overall research study.  The study title and study number will stay the same, the version number will change.  If study number is 456789-1, then the first subsequent package submitted would be 456789-2.
• Each subsequent package represents a specific stage or review of the project — for example:
• Initial study submission
• Modification
• Revision
• Continuing review (renewal)
• Study closure
