The Henry Marsh Institute for Public Policy is administered by the Office of Governmental and Community Affairs at Saginaw Valley State University with the guidance of the Advisory Faculty Board and the Advisory Fund Development Board.
Raquel Perez is the Diversity & Community Liaison at Hemlock Semiconductor and a 2018 graduate of the Henry Marsh Institute for Public Policy. At HSC, she works closely with leaders and community stakeholders to lead, strategize, and execute diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to create equitable and inclusive experiences and opportunities.
Prior to joining HSC, Raquel served as an Associate Director of Support Services for YFU USA providing culturally responsive problem-solving to stakeholders internationally as well as supporting compliance requirements per the U.S. Department of State. She also spent some time working with first-generation college students at Central Michigan University as the College Day Coordinator and a Fixed-term Faculty.
Raised in mid-Michigan, she continues to be passionate about bettering our community and empowering others. She considers herself to be a servant-based leader and enjoys collaborating with others in several volunteer capacities. She is a skilled trainer on problem-solving, mediation, and DEI topics such as cultural agility, implicit bias, and identity.
She holds a B.A. and M.A. from Saginaw Valley State University and is a doctoral candidate investigating a sense of belonging in micro-environments at Central Michigan University. She and her husband live in Saginaw with their two sons and dog.
Stephen Prince serves as the Assistant Director of University-Community Affairs at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). In his role, he interfaces with local leaders on behalf of SVSU throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region.
Prior to entering this role, Stephen served as a staffer in the Michigan House of Representatives and on the COVID-19 Vaccine rollout for the Bay County Health Department.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University and is a graduate of the 2019 Henry Marsh Institute of Public Policy Cohort. He is a lifelong resident of Bay County.
