Meet the Staff!

Carly Satawa

Area of focus: Biology, Anatomy, CHEM 111

Carly tutors Biology and Anatomy courses, CHEM 111, PSYC 100, SOC 111, and COMM 105A. She is currently in her last semester of nursing school and plans to work in the NICU when she graduates. She loves to go on walks around the campus trail and play pickleball in her free time.

Grace Harkenrider

Area of focus: Biology, Chemistry, Gen. Ed.

Grace is a 4th-year student majoring in both Biochemistry and Neuroscience. She tutors Biology, Chemistry, and Gen. Ed. courses. She is a student-athlete who understands how tricky it can be to balance school and other commitments. That said, she can help you organize your time and optimize your study habits. Fun fact about Grace: She is a hot chocolate fanatic!

Lilly Richardson

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Lilly is a fourth-year CMB major on the pre-vet track! This is Lilly's third year as a biology/chemisty tutor, and she absolutely loves it. She enjoys making new connections with peers and helping them understand course material. In her free time, she enjoys Starbucks dates with friends and exercising at the rec center! 

Maggie Lesko

Area of focus: Biology & Communications

Maggie is currently a graduate student in the MSOT. She tutors BIO 105, BIO 111, BIO 232, BIO 233, and COMM 105 in addition to undergraduate occupational therapy courses. A fun fact about her is that she loves to travel and has been to over thirty countries. 

Maxwell Taylor

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Max is a fourth-year student majoring in Biochemistry. He tutors biology and chemistry courses, and he enjoys helping students discover what strategies allow them to best understand the course material and to be successful. A fun fact about Max is that he has a dog named Mr. Weeber.

Michael Carter

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Michael recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He now serves as the professional tutor for biology and chemistry, but specializes in organic chemistry. Michael believes tutoring is a chance to instill confidence and curiosity in students, helping them understand concepts and apply them to a range of questions and situations. His goal is also to help lower stress levels in difficult subjects. A fun fact about Michael is that he plays two instruments: Bassoon and bass guitar!

Sarah Gray

Area of focus: Business

Sarah is a business tutor for the College of Business with a bachelor's degree in Business Management. She is currently pursuing her master's in Marketing while dedicated to assisting students in various business courses. On top of that, she is on the Track and Field team.

Tara Szuper

Area of focus: Business

Tara is a 4th-year student at SVSU pursuing her MBA with a concentration in Marketing. She received her bachelor's degree in Marketing from SVSU in December of 2025. She is a Business tutor, covering any subjects within the College of Business. Tara enjoys meeting new students while sharing her knowledge and experience. Tara is also a distance runner on the cross country and track teams at SVSU.

Xsandrie Guimba

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Xsandrie is a Biology and Chemistry tutor and a senior exercise science major. Xsandrie's interest in tutoring is fueled by a combination of retaining content from the classes she's taken as well as helping fellow students excel academically. A fun fact about Xsandrie is that she likes to speed skate in her free time.

Mallorey Bedell

Area of focus: Business

Mallorey is a third-year student double-majoring in Accounting and Criminal Justice with a minor in Legal Studies. She enjoys supporting students in their business courses and creating a welcoming, encouraging learning environment. Outside of academics, Mallorey can play 5 instruments and is the assistant director for the pep bands on campus.

Ansh Reddy

Area of focus: Accounting and Economics

Ansh is a junior majoring in accounting. He tutors a variety of business courses at the CAA and especially enjoys working with students taking ACCT213. He aims to help students achieve their goals and grow confidence in their skills. Ansh is also a part of SVSU's Sailing Club, and you can catch him sailing with the club on Haithco Lake when it's not frozen!

Emma Wallis

Area of focus: Chemistry

Emma is a third-year student majoring in Chemical Physics. She mainly tutors CHEM 111, but is hoping to expand her range as she completes more classes. Emma loves tutoring because she can pass on the skills she's developed to help other students be successful. One fun fact about Emma is that she grew up on a cattle farm in the Upper Peninsula!

Isabella Pitts

Area of focus: Psychology, Social Work, English, Japanese, & General Education

Isabella is a Social Science and General Education tutor at SVSU's Academic Achievement Center. She is a fourth-year student and helps tutor in a variety of subjects such as Psychology, Social Work, English, Japanese, Communications, Criminal Justice, etc. Isabella cares about tutoring because she wants to help and support other students to succeed academically and personally in any way that she can. A fun fact about Isabella is that you can find her dancing at multiple events on campus - she is President of the Hip Hop Crew RSO at SVSU.

Jacob Walker

Area of focus: Finance & Accounting

Jacob recently graduated with his bachelor's degree in finance. He is currently pursuing his MBA, and he is part of the track/cross country team. He specializes in finance and accounting classes and enjoys helping others with the knowledge he has.

Grace Bergquist

Area of focus: BIO 111, 181, 182, Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition, and Microbiology

Grace is going into her last year in the nursing program. She tutors biology and anatomy classes. She loves tutoring nutrition and is excited to help students in her last year at SVSU. Fun fact about Grace: she loves going to concerts and has already been to four this year!

Elijah Hutchinson

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry, and various Gen-Ed Courses

Elijah is a second-year student studying biochemistry. He plans to tutor biology, chemistry, and certain gen-ed courses. In his free time, he loves running, playing basketball, and golfing. The reason he got involved in tutoring is to help other students accomplish their goals while developing skills that will serve them well past their college experience.

Lance Tachna

Area of focus: Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, and General Chemistry

Lance is a third-year student and is a Bio/Chem tutor majoring in nursing. If you need help with Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, or Microbiology, he'd love to help! He is very excited to be tutoring this year and encourages contacting him with any questions.

Madisyn Lundquist

Area of focus: Accounting, Economics, and Business

Madisyn is a third-year student pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing with plans to get her MBA through SVSU's combined degree program. She will tutor business courses, with a focus on accounting, economics, and other business-related classes. She knows what it's like to have a busy schedule, so she enjoys helping others manage their course load and understand the content. She is also a member of the SVSU Track & Field team!

Sophia Dreamer

Area of focus: Biology

Sophia is a fourth-year CMB major on the pre-medicine track! Her interest in tutoring stems from helping students find study techniques and learning styles that work for them. In her free time, she enjoys study dates with friends, baking, and planning out her next cool trip.

Angel Oakley

Area of focus: Finance, Accounting, & Economics

Angel is a third-year finance major and actuarial science minor. She is also involved in Cardinal Confections Baking Club, Residential Life, Orientation, and tours. She is excited to help students feel welcome and comfortable in the tutoring center, and uplift students to a better understanding of accounting and economics courses!

Elisabeth Bragg

Area of focus: EEO Biology classes, Chemistry

Elisabeth is a fourth-year student majoring in Biological Science with a minor in Chemistry. She will be tutoring biolgy and chemistry courses, including various biology courses on the EEO track. Elisabeth thinks tutoring is a valuable educational resource, and she is excited to connect with and support other students in their academic careers. A fun fact about her is that she went to the Galápagos Islands on an SVSU study abroad trip.
