Meet the Staff!

Carly Satawa

Area of focus: Biology & Anatomy

Carly tutors Biology and Anatomy courses, PSYC 100, SOC 111, COMM 105A, and CHEM 111. She is currently in her third semester of nursing school and plans to work in the pediatric or cardiac unit at a hospital when she graduates. She loves to run and play volleyball in her free time.

Chayan Jain

Area of focus: Business

Chayan is a Business tutor at the CAA in his final year, pursuing a double major in Finance and Supply Chain Management. He is available to assist with a wide range of Business classes. Chayan believes in making difficult concepts understandable and supporting students to build confidence in their academic journey. Fun fact: As an international student, he enjoys exploring new cultures and is passionate about travel and networking!

Emma Wallis

Area of focus: Chemistry

Emma is a second-year, majoring in Chemical Physics! She mainly tutors CHEM 111, but is hoping to expand her range the more classes she completes. Emma loves tutoring because she can pass on the skills she's developed to help other students be successful! One fun fact about Emma is that she grew up on a cattle farm in the Upper Peninsula!

Gavin Wallace

Area of focus: Business

Gavin is one of our Business tutors at SVSU. He is a Finance Major with a Minor in Actuarial Science. Gavin tutors so he can assist students with finding that lightbulb moment on tough business concepts. A fun fact about Gavin is that he has a twin sister!

Grace Harkenrider

Area of focus: Biology, Chemistry, Gen. Ed.

Grace is a third-year majoring in both Biochemistry and Neuroscience. She tutors Biology, Chemistry, and Gen. Ed. courses. She is a student athlete who understands how tricky it can be to balance school and other commitments. That stated, she can help you organize your time and optimize your study habits. Fun fact about Grace: She is a hot chocolate fanatic!

Isabella Pitts

Area of focus: English, Communications, Psychology, Gen. Ed.

Isabella is a Social Science and General Education tutor at SVSU's Academic Achievement Center. She is a third-year student and helps tutor in a variety of subjects such as English, Communications, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Astronomy, etc. Isabella cares about tutoring because she wants to help and support other students to succeed academically and personally in any way that she can. A fun fact about Isabella is that you can find her on multiple dance RSOs on campus-- She is President of the Hip Hop and Vice President of the K-Pop dance clubs at SVSU.

Jordan Purchase

Area of focus: Business

Jordan is a fifth-year Accounting Major who has a focus on tutoring Business. Jordan enjoys tutoring because it provides an opportunity to help others build confidence and succeed in challenging subjects. Outside of academics, Jordan enjoys spending time with friends, reading, going to the gym, line dancing, and spending time with his dog, Cash.

Lila Duvendack

Area of focus: Psychology, Communications, Poli. Sci.

Lila is a fourth-year Psychology Major with a double Minor in Business and Theatre. Her future career goal is in Statistics and Data Analysis, something she is happy to be able to help with in here. Lila's focus in tutoring is Psychology courses, but she is able to help most low-level Social Science classes-- such as Communications and Political Science as well. Feel free to come by!

Lilly Richardson

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Lilly is a Professional Tutor at SVSU. She is a junior studying Cell and Molecular Biology and Biomedical Sciences on the pre-veterinary track, and she tutors in Biology and Chemistry. Lilly values tutoring because it allows her to build meaningful connections with others on campus while supporting their academic growth. A fun fact about Lilly: She once made pottery in Greece!

Maggie Lesko

Area of focus: Biology & Communications

Maggie is a junior studying Occupational Therapy. She tutors courses BIO 105, BIO 111, BIO 232, and COMM 105. A fun fact about her is that she loves to travel and has been to over twenty countries.

Maxwell Taylor

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Max is a third-year majoring in Biochemistry. He tutors Biology and Chemistry courses, and he enjoys helping students discover what strategies allow them to best learn the course material and to be successful. A fun fact about Max is that he has a dog named Mr. Weeber.

Michael Carter

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Michael is a fourth-year Biochemistry major who serves as an embedded tutor in Organic Chemistry. On top of that, he tutors various other Biology and Chemistry classes. Michael believes tutoring is a chance to instill confidence and curiosity among students to help them understand concepts and apply them to various questions and situations. His goal is also to help lower stress levels in difficult subjects. A fun fact about Michael is that he plays two instruments: Bassoon in the SVSU wind ensemble and bass guitar outside of school!

Olivia Hanson

Area of focus: Biology

Olivia is a Biology tutor at SVSU; she is in her fourth year at the university and in her second year of the nursing program. Olivia believes that tutoring is incredibly important because all students deserve to understand their course content in a way that works for their learning needs.

Sarah Gray

Area of focus: Business

Sarah is a student tutor affiliated with the CAA. Currently in her fourth year at SVSU, she pursues a bachelor's degree in Business Management and a master's degree in Marketing. Sarah is dedicated to assisting students in various Business classes, as she genuinely aspires to facilitate their academic success.

Tara Szuper

Area of focus: Business

Tara is a third-year student at SVSU studying Marketing. She is a Business tutor, covering any subjects within the College of Business. Tara enjoys meeting new students while sharing her knowledge and experience. Tara is also a distance runner on the cross country and track teams at SVSU.

Xsandrie Guimba

Area of focus: Biology & Chemistry

Xsandrie is a Biology and Chemistry tutor and fourth year Exercise Science major. Xsandrie's interest in tutoring is fueled by a combination of retaining content from the classes she's taken as well as helping fellow students excel academically. A fun fact about Xsandrie is that she likes to speed skate in her free time.

Mallorey Bedell

Area of focus: Business

Mallorey is a second-year accounting major at SVSU with a minor in Criminal Justice. She enjoys supporting students in their business courses and creating a welcoming, encouraging learning environment. Outside of academics, Mallorey can play 5 instruments and is the assistant director for the pep bands on campus.

Ansh Reddy

Area of focus: Business

Ansh Reddy is a sophomore majoring in Supply Chain Management. He tutors a variety of business courses at the CAA and especially enjoys working with students taking ACCT213. His aim is to help students achieve their goals and grow confidence in their skills. Ansh is also a part of SVSU's Sailing Club and you can catch him sailing with the club on the Haithco lake when its not frozen!
