This exhibition features artwork by
the Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate,
Taylor Stone and serves as a completion
of her undergraduate program.   Taylor
grew up in Birch Run, Michigan, and
graduated from Birch Run High School.
She then proceeded on to obtain her
Associates in Art from Delta College,
and then transferred to SVSU where
she decided to work towards a
Bachelor’s in Fine Art with a
concentration in graphic design.

Artist Statement:

"Growing up I had this little stuffed animal raccoon. My
dad brought him to life in my imagination and I knew
when I started art school that little raccoon would be a
part of my work. Upon senior year when I had to decide
what I wanted my BFA project to be about, I chose my
little Raccoon. I created a children’s book to spread the
magical feeling I got from my stuffed animal to other
children. I hope that The Adventures of Sniffers the
Raccoon helps spark expiration and curiosity in the
children who read it.

The Art Department at SVSU has been such a strong
support system in this journey. Going into the program
I was nervous about creating a children’s books because
I had no experience in it. However, with advice and
suggestions from the art department I was able to create
work that I am so proud of. This opportunity to work with
such creative minds was a challenge and honor, and I’ve
come out of it learning so much about myself and my
artwork. I cannot thank my committee and the art
department enough for their support through this adventure."

After graduation, I will be taking a part-time job over the
summer where I can earn some money while working on
The Adventures of Sniffers series. I intend to have the first
book published and hopefully more. In August I will be
moving to Florida to accept a position for the Walt Disney
Company. While I am there, I plan to network and work my
way into a full-time graphic design position with them.
However, I do hope to eventually come back to Michigan and
work with a company as an in-house graphic designer.
