Winter 2019 Exhibitions

January 14th - February 8th, 2019
Reception/Awards Ceremony: January 24th, 4 - 6 pm

This exhibition features work from current SVSU Art Department students, majors and minors. A variety of mediums will be showcased including but not limited to photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, graphic design and more.

February 18th - March 15th, 2019
Lecture: February 28th, 3 - 4 pm
Reception: February 28th, 4 - 6 pm

This exhibition features prints from contemporary artist Mary Brodbeck. Her prints depict stylized interpretations of the Great Lakes landscape using the traditional Japanese woodblock process 'mokuhanga.' She received her B.F.A. in Industrial Design from Michigan State University and her M.F.A. in Printmaking from Western Michigan University. Accompanying Brodbeck's prints are highlights from the SVSU Art Department's Dr. Doll Collection.

March 25th - April 12th, 2019
Lecture: April 4th, 3 - 4 pm
Reception: April 4th, 4 - 6 pm

This exhibition features mixed-media paintings by Brian Elder, an artist and educator living in Mt. Pleasant, MI. His work explores the concept behind location, and how people place themselves in their surroundings. He received his B.F.A. from the University of New Hampshire, and his M.F.A. in Painting from Indiana University.

April 22nd - May 10th, 2019
Reception: April 25th, 4 - 6 pm

This exhibition features artwork by the Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates and serves as a completion of their undergraduate program. Featured student artists include Anna Slavin in Painting/Drawing, Howie Eagle in Photography, Raul Avel (Hajiyev) in Graphic Design and Tylar Elizabeth (Greer-Travis) in Graphic Design.
