Digital Space 5 Prospectus Information

The University Art Gallery (UAG) at Saginaw Valley State University
in Saginaw, Michigan is hosting Digital Space 5. (Deadline Extended!)

Eligibility:

The Digital Space juried exhibition is open to any artist residing in the state Michigan, 18 years or older,  using a digital imaging device and/or a digital imaging program in the creation of their two dimensional or three-dimensional work. Artwork should be created with a fine art emphasis rather than a commercial one, and not previously exhibited in a Digital or Cyberspace show. All two-dimensional work must be professionally framed and ready to hang on wire or other appropriate devise, three-dimensional work must be pedestal stable or wall stable. Works requiring a computer or other electronic device for display will not be accepted unless all equipment is supplied by the artist. Entries cannot be larger than 6 feet (60") in any dimension, including entries with multiple parts (diptych, triptych, installations, etc.).

Deadline Summaries:

Online submission due: January 15, 2021 11:45pm (Extended to January 29th!)
Mail in Entry fee or student ID due: January 15, 2021 4:30pm (Extended to January 29th)
Notification: February 15, 2021
Exhibition Dates: March 17-April 9, 2021
Delivery deadline in person: March 6th 2021
Delivery deadline if shipped: March 9th, 2021
Returns: April 12-13, 2021, or shipped April 16th.

Entry Procedure

This entry has two parts. Submit online entry form and pay the entry fee (done separately).

            Entry Form Details:

The form is online via the UAG gallery site or  Submit entries here  and includes providing contact information, how you would prefer your name be presented, and details about the work submitted. Provide the title, medium, dimensions (H(L) x W x D in inches) date created and the value of the work. If the work is not for sale, list NFS. Upload image file for each entry (one per 2-D entry, no more than 2 per 3-D entry) maximum size 2 MB with no less than 500 pixels on the shortest side. Allowable files formats: .png, .gif, .jpg, and .jpeg.  After submitting the form, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail provided within the form. The entry form will be available until January 15, 2021 at 11:45pm. (Extended to January 29th)
           

Entry Fee:
A non-refundable fee of $20 ($0 for SVSU and other Michigan College/University students providing a valid student ID) will be charged for up to three works. Make checks payable to SVSU. Cashier's and /or personal checks will be accepted. Please list Digital Space 5 on the memo line. Mail payments to: CFS-SVSU, Digital Space 5, Wickes 131-A, 7400 Bay Road University Center, MI 48710. Credit cards can only be processed over the phone through the Campus Financial Services Center (989) 964-4900: Business hours are 8:00 am- 4:30 pm Monday-Friday. The Center will be closed the end of the business day on December 20, 2020 to January 3, 2021. Payments and ID's will be accepted until the end of the business day on January 29, 2021

Awards:

Top prize $300 with additional awards at the jurors discretion.

Juror:

Clark Most is a multi-media artist and Professor in the Department of Art and Design at Central Michigan University, where he has taught photography, drawing and a wide range of courses in the graphic design program. He also is a Principle at Design Direction, LLC in Midland, a design communication studio where he has guided non-profits, small start-ups, institutions and fortune 500 companies to “define and tell their stories through strategies that advance their impact on the world”. 

His experience with the camera covers more than four decades — using photography as a tool in advertising and design, fine art creation, documentary projects and a variety of landscape imagery.

Along with exhibiting internationally, he has had work published in multiple books and magazines and has been honored for his photography and design by a number of the leading professional design organizations in North America, including: Communication Arts, The Webby Awards, the American Institute of Graphic Design (AIGA), The American Advertising Federation where he has received multiple District and Regional Addys, The Pixel Awards, The Creativity Awards, the American Graphic Design Awards, Logo Lounge and many others.

Clark resides in the woodlands of Michigan with his wife and business partner Lynne, and a wussy Chihuahua.

Sales:
There will be no commission retained by the UAG. Potential sales will be directed to the artist.

Notifications:
Artists will be notified of their entry status by February 15th, 2021.

Delivery/Shipping:
Accepted works must be delivered to the gallery Monday through Saturday March 1-6th 2021.Only juried work will be accepted- substitution after acceptance will not be permitted. Additional details will be supplied to the artist upon acceptance.
      Shipped work must be insured and received by Tuesday March 9, 2021.

 Ship to: UAG Coordinator, Digital Space 5, 7400 Bay Road, University Center, MI 48710. 

All packages must include installation instructions (if necessary) and return postage/insurance.
All received artwork must remain for the duration of the exhibition.

Return:
Work must be picked up April 12 or 13, 2021 from 11 am -3 pm. Additional details pending. Return shipping will begin April 16, 2021. We are unable to store work. Any work not claimed by pick up dates will be considered abandoned and discarded. 

Liability:
It is our honor to exhibit your work and although extreme care will be taken with all entries, the University Art Gallery, Art Department, or Saginaw Valley State University will not be responsible for loss or damage to artwork. Submission of works implies agreement to all conditions of the entry information including permission to photograph accepted works for publicity. By fully completing the entry form and paying the entry fee, the Artist is bound to these terms.
