SVSU Board of Control

The SVSU Board of Control is the link between the University and the State of Michigan; it is comprised of eight members, plus the SVSU President, who sits ex officio as a non-voting member.  The eight regular members are appointed by the Governor, subject to Senate confirmation, and are predominantly, though not exclusively, from the Saginaw, Bay, Midland tri-county area.  Length of term of office is eight years, with two members rotating off every two years in odd-numbered years.  In the words of President Gilbertson, “the work of our governing board is hugely important and, historically, the members of SVSU’s Board have made tremendous contributions to the direction and character and success of the University(State of the University Address, January 27, 2011).
