Employment Fair Draws Over 300
|
Last Friday, Sept. 19, more than 300 job seekers turned out to SVSU’s University-Wide Employment Fair to talk with representatives from companies throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond. The event was hosted by SVSU’s Office of Career Services.
Heather Van Sumeran, employer and student development specialist, said attendance from both employers and students exceeded participation at last year’s event.
The breakdown follows:
|
- 83 employers registered
- 292 students attended
- 29 alumni and community members attended
|
On Thursday, Oct. 9, the Office of Career Services will host the Fall Education & Human Services Job Fair from 4-6 p.m. in the Curtiss Hall banquet rooms. Employers who wish to attend can register before noon on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
|
Safety is a top priority, so SVSU has expanded its safety infrastructure.
|
- Nearly 200 new surveillance cameras across campus will strengthen the monitoring network, supporting University Police in preventing and investigating crime and reinforcing a secure environment for the entire community.
- Blue Light Emergency Call Towers are being upgraded with new, high-visibility graphics to make them easier to locate and use in an emergency.
- To improve nighttime visibility, new lighting is being installed in key pedestrian areas, including the crosswalk between the Fieldhouse and C-Lot and near University Village West, helping reduce dark spots and enhance pedestrian safety during evening hours.
