SVSU Delegates Visit Beijing
|
A delegation of SVSU students, faculty and staff traveled to Beijing in late September to participate in the World Heritage Experience Tour, joining more than 100 students from leading universities across the United States and the United Kingdom.
From September 24 to 28, the SVSU delegation joined the World Cultural Forum, which featured speakers from the United Nations, architecture, urban planning, and business sectors tied to tourism and cultural industries. Alongside forum discussions, students visited world-renowned sites including the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Great Wall, Temple of Heaven and the 798 Arts District. The group also toured Tsinghua University’s X-lab, an innovation hub that highlights how China links entrepreneurship, economic development and emerging technologies such as AI. SVSU students delivered closing remarks and participated in media interviews, highlighting the university’s expanding global engagement.
This experience aligns with SVSU’s mission to expand globally engaged, experiential learning opportunities that cultivate cultural awareness, leadership, and empathy. The trip strengthened the university’s relationship with the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation and the Global Heritage Forum, which may lead to future collaboration and student participation.
