SVSU YouthWISE Provides Training to SPSD
|
In February, the YouthWISE program at SVSU partnered with Saginaw Public Schools to provide a full day of in-service professional development for school social workers. The training focused on trauma-informed practice, supporting youth with foster care experience and human trafficking awareness.
The training sessions were offered at no cost to participants and were designed to strengthen the skills of professionals who serve vulnerable children and families in the Saginaw community.
SVSU received the federal YouthWISE grant in 2023. The grant is designed to expand behavioral health education and increase access to services across medically underserved communities in Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay and Thumb regions. The SVSU Social Work Department is proud to invest in the professionals who support the well-being and resilience of the children and families in our region.
